Weddings in the wood

The venue is yours to transform for hire period. Some couples choose to do very little - we look pretty good left plain. Some prefer to add some small personal touches while others choose to transform the venue with their own dream theme. Whatever your plans we will do our best to accommodate them - from an outback country dance, retro vintage to a sophisticated sit down with all the trimmings. For a completely blank canvass you can "add-on" a cream calico lining to the barn and/or have the marquee lined and you can hang decorations in the barn, marquee and outside. We have simple lighting but you can provide your own - from candle in enclosed lanterns on the tables to strings of fairly lights suspended from the beam to tea lights hanging in the trees. We do not allow naked flames in either the barn or marquee. If you need more time to decorate the venue you can add-on extended access

All decorations must be taken down and removed from the Weddings in the Wood venue by noon the day after the reception.

The venue is deep in the forest and rustic. Please give us advance notice if any of your guests will be in wheelchairs so we can ensure that the correct facilities are in place.

We have beech bistro-style chairs and round tables to seat up to 120 guests. There are twelve 5ft6" round tables, one 6ft round table and one 3ft round table suitable for displaying the cake. If you prefer a different style of chair, you can arrange your own hire. We have a limited stock of trestle tables (15 trestles each measuring 2ft6" by 6ft) and benches for less formal dining and we can supply up to 10 rustic picnic style tables with benches and some garden chairs for use outdoors.

Straw bales can also be hired, subject to availability. Please contact the wedding co-ordinator for more information.

Catering Company Information

If you are using a catering company, then the catering company must provide all your crockery, cutlery and table linen. You must ensure that the caterers understand that they need to supply their own serving staff and that they are responsible for laying the tables, serving and clearing the tables.

Home Service Information

If you are not using a catering company then we can provide glassware for 120 guests for one service. Please note this must be pre-booked. We can also provide water jugs for the tables. The glassware for the table comprises of a high-ball, a wine goblet suitable for either red or white wine, and a champagne flute. You must ensure that you have made adequate provision for the serving and clearing away of all the meals. Weddings in the Wood staff are not available for setting tables, serving or clearing tables. You will need to organise all your own crockery, cutlery, table cloths, serviettes, condiment sets and table decorations. We do not provide high chairs. If you are are planning to serve more than one meal then you will have to hire a second set of crockery/cutlery or provide disposable as we do not have suitable washing up facilities.

If you are having a hog roast or bbq you may prefer to use disposable plates and cutlery. Where disposables are used Weddings in the Wood staff will be happy to clear the tables.

List of suppliers

We have a license for both amplified and live music to be played in the barn. Live music must finish at 11pm, amplified music can continue until midnight. Although we enjoy a secluded woodland location we do have neighbours who need to be respected when it comes to the music volume. It is the perfect venue for dancing, whether you choose to have a live band, disco or barn dance. Please ensure that your music provider books a site visit prior to your wedding and that you consider any special lighting effects you may need. The band/DJ must provide all relevant certificates including liability insurance.

We hold a small stock of outdoor games available to play on the lawns, including Boules, Croquet and Giant Jenga. You can organise your own entertainment for your guests - in the past visitors have enjoyed such things as ferret racing, duck-herding and falconry. Please refer to our list of useful links.

If you wish we can organise activities for guests as an “add-on” using our on-site facilities and equipment with instruction from our qualified staff.
